R.B.M. Plastic Extrusions' subsidiary Paramount Plastics (Aust) have been manufacturing and extruding plastics for a variety of markets including the building industry for over 40 years.

It is a family owned business with three generations currently committed to manufacturing and developing new products for the Australian market.

Paramount Plastics (Aust) has been developing a number of innovative new products including a clear plate for the abalone farming market and in the building market one of our customers, a major manufacturer of laminated floating floors, identified a problem with noise reduction & suppression (a drum beat when walking on laminated floors) that needed a new product to minimize the noise.

They identified a requirement of IIC 60 or above, a product that was moisture proof, quick & easy to lay.

From this we were able to create Paramount "Easylay" - a moisture proof and noise suppressant underlay.

Paramount "Easylay" is made from a high quality non-toxic recycled material previously dumped for landfill.

Australian Hardboards Ltd. worked with us to identify the potential for the product under their new "Dual BOND" underlay, as "Easylay" offers the advantage of sound deadening and acting as a moisture and noise suppressant barrier in one and is quick and easy to lay.

Australian Hardboards Ltd. was instrumental in identifying the potential markets for use in high rise buildings where the new building codes are working towards a noise suppressant rating code.

With further help from a Plasterboard manufacturer who had similar problems resolving the high rise noise problem with plasterboard ceilings, we were able to go to the CSIRO to have the system tested with a product and practicable system that would minimize the noise problems experienced.

Paramount Easylay achieved a rating of IIC 64 (in situ) in CSIRO testing, far exceeding any currently proposed noise regulations.
